In this step by step guide I will show you how to install JDownloader 2 on your Synology NAS using Docker. It’s an easy-to-extend framework that can save hours of your valuable time every day. Users can start, stop or pause downloads, set bandwidth limitations, auto-extract archives and much more. The only relevant options I have in the app are Remote Port (currently set to auto), Local Port (currently left blank, setting some random port and using that one in the JD2 proxy didn't work) & Port Forwarding (yes/no).JDownloader 2 is a free, open-source download management tool with a huge community of developers that makes downloading as easy and fast as it should be. Then I don't know how to get the VPN (as said earlier I'm already using the PIA's app) to only work as a "proxy system vs changing system gateway". My first question is what type of proxy should I choose? If I choose "direct" I can't set a port. So what I did by now is uncheck "No Proxy" in the Connection Manager of JD2 and am about to add a new one. Thanks again! Yet I still need your help one last time. Where to from now? either run system like it is already, or find that software to connect to vpn but only work as proxy system vs changing system gateway. How it works is you setup proxy in JDownloader to 127.0.0.1:randomport and the vpn/tunnel/proxy software binds to that ip:port and relays traffic into the vpn provider. To control/stop that in the way I described! Your vpn provider might already supply/recommend software to act as tunnel/proxy. But you loose control when connection drops, all connections then go back over default connection. Since the most common way vpn work by altering the systems default gateway, it effectively moves all traffic over that medium. ![]()
